The 4-year-old boy wandered into a neighborhood during the Jan. 14 incident, which remains under investigation according to Clawson Police.
A Clawson Schools bus driver has been suspended without pay after a special needs boy, 4, wandered into a neighborhood after being left unsupervised on a bus, according to police.
“The bus driver unknowingly left the bus parked with the 4-year-old child inside,” Clawson Police Detective John Reinhardt told The Oakland Press in a report Wednesday. “The bus driver failed to perform his required checks prior to leaving the bus.”
The incident, which occurred Jan. 14, is under investigation and no charges have been filed, police said in the Oakland Press report.
“We cannot comment further on this personnel matter until it has been resolved,” Clawson Schools Superintendent Monique Beels said in a statement, according to the Oakland Press. “We are in the process of reviewing our policies, procedures and driver responsibilities to ensure that such an incident will never happen again.”
