Clawson Hosts Fire & Spice and Everything Nice
The event will take place from noon-4 p.m. Saturday on West 14 Mile Road.
Downtown Clawson will heat up this Saturday with a chili cook-off, marshmallow drop, bonfire and more during Fire & Spice and Everything Nice.
The event, set for noon-4 p.m., is a celebration of Clawson's Random Acts of Kindness Week (Feb. 13-19), with proceeds benefiting several local organizations.
Downtown Development Authority Director Joan Horton said the chili cook-off will be one of the highlights, with restaurants and local organizations participating in a contest for the best chili in town.
This is the second time the DDA has hosted a Random Acts of Kindness celebration. Horton said the Saturday event is an expansion of last year's Heating it Up in Clawson.
"It's going to be a lot more fun," Horton said. "We tried to get every group in town to participate. I think we are going to see a much bigger crowd this year."
The Clawson Fire Department will put on a marshmallow drop for the children, and there will be prizes for those who collect the most marshmallows, Horton said.
In addition to food and games, there will also be a chain saw artist show at the event.
Charities that will benefit from the event include the Lions Club, the Clawson High School band, the Kenwood Parent Teacher Association, Clawson American Legion and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Attendees should look for a large, heated tent on West 14 Mile Road in the lot next to Clawson Shoe Repair.
