Clawson American Legion to Host Memorial Day Parade

The parade will start at the American Legion post and end with a ceremony at Memorial Park.

Clawson will honor veterans and the fallen and active soldiers of the United States forces at its annual Memorial Day parade that will begin at 10 a.m. at the American Legion post, 655 S. Main.

The parade will feature the American Legion veterans, Clawson High School marching band, local scouts, City Council members and Sen. John Pappageorge. Mayor Penny Luebs said the parade will march north down Main Street and end at Memorial Park, next to Blair Memorial Library.

"It’s a smaller parade dedicated to the task of honoring our veterans," Luebs said.

Following the parade, there will be a ceremony at Memorial Park with a 21-gun salute, a prayer, placement of a wreath at the veterans memorial and remarks from Luebs and former Cmdr. Brian Soubliere.

The American Legion will serve free donuts and coffee before the parade and hot dogs after the festivities.
