Grand prize and week 2 winner: This photo, "Honeymoon July 2010, Lake Superior/Isle Royale," is the Week 2 winner in the Patch of Michigan Photo Contest. Beth Potts snapped the picture of her husband, Chris, navigating their canoe during their honeymoon.
Week 8 co-winner: This picture of my son (Nate) and husband (Andrew) was taken on September 3rd after the walkoff home run hit by Cabrera during the Tigers vs. White Sox game. The Tigers were down 8-1 at one point, and came back to win it in grand fashion. We love baseball in our family, and I think you can tell by this picture! What an amazing night of baseball with family, and GO TIGERS! -- Kristin Schreck
Week 8 co-winner: Nothing says Michigan more to me than sailing in a/o photographing the Bayview Pt. Huron to Mackinac Race.
Week 5 winner: It's a balmy March day in Rochester Hills and the girls are so ready for summer they drag the beach chairs out to the remains of the snow fort.

Sunsets, family reunions, beaches, city skylines, tubing on lakes, Tiger games, wildlife, Mackinac Island and so much more. Those are among the nearly 2,000 images readers shared over eight weeks of the Your Patch of Michigan photo contest.

So it was tough to choose just one grand prize winner from the eight weekly winners, but we did: Beth Potts' snapshot of her new husband, Chris, during their honeymoon canoe trip to Isle Royale in Michigan's Upper Peninsula last summer.

"We packed everything into the canoe and he navigated our way along the south shore to Moskey Basin, where we camped overlooking the bay," said Potts, of Grosse Pointe Woods.

"We've both traveled internationally and around the U.S., but you don't have to leave Michigan to have it as good as it gets. We plan to adventure a new Michigan destination for each anniversary ... There's always more to see."

In choosing the grand prize winner, judges commented:

"It's a cool moment, a well-composed shot and a very uniquely Michigan moment" and "It is such a beautiful shot and showcases Michigan's lakes and natural beauty" and "I thought it was great content and a quality photo all at the same time, with a great story behind it."

Beth and Chris Potts can continue their Michigan adventures with the grand prize: a two-night stay at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island (to be used before Oct. 31, 2012, and blackout dates and other restrictions may apply). The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $500.

Every week through Sept. 17 we had a new photo gallery and a new winner chosen by a panel of Michigan Patch editors. Each weekly winner got a prize, such as a gift certificate to a local restaurant.

Flip through the attached gallery for the other weekly winners, all of which represent our state's beauty and what Michigan means to those who love it.
