Current Mavericks President Ted Verner said the original members started a legacy.

"We are going to do a thank you, and it's neat because Mr. Zeiter is a third generation," Verner said. "His son played and now coaches, and his grandson now plays. Mr. Eads is the same way. So there's a long generation and history in the program."

Zeiter acknowledged a lot of behind-the-scenes volunteers who helped make the program the success that it is today.

"There were so many who helped get the Mavericks going on so many levels," he said in the Mavericks statement.

Game time is 3 p.m., starting with a flag game followed by the freshmen, junior varsity and varsity games. Admission costs $3, or $2 for seniors 55 and older. Children younger than 4 are admitted free.
