The holiday season officially kicked off with a familiar event Saturday - the 'Christmas in Clawson' Craft Show.

Now in its 28th year, the show turns Clawson High School into a winter wonderland and brings together the hand-crafted work of close to 150 vendors.

"We've come the past three years and this is the best it's ever been," said Nancy Burch-Long, a Clawson resident. "It's really good and it's a lot bigger this year; there's a lot more selection."

Vendors agree that there's a reason the Clawson show is different from the rest.

"This was the very first craft show we've ever done," said Kathy Plutschak of Betty Jean's Chocolates, a longtime vendor. "It's a nice group of people, it's very organized and this is where we always do the best."

In addition to the crafts, shoppers could take a break and indulge in some delicious lunch along with a dessert of goods from the bake sale, or participate in a raffle with a chance to win a customized gift basket or a handmade quilt.

New this year was the gift wrap station, courtesy of the Clawson Junior Optimist Club.

Proceeds from the 'Christmas in Clawson' Craft Show will benefits the PTA groups of the Clawson School District.

It was a great event yesterday. We would like to make a correction. Humbly Baked and Betty Jeans Chocolates are two different companies that do a lot of events together. We are out of Rochester Hills. We thouroughly enjoy this event and have met many wonderful people. The ladies who organize this event do a great job. Looking forward to next year.

Thank you, Kim -- The corrections have been made. It was very nice to meet you and your chocolate samples were scrumptious! :-)
