While most shoppers came to pick out fresh fruits and vegetables from the handful of farmers at the market, there were a few niche vendors Sunday, too, including Dunbar Honey Farm, Sansonetti Sauces and Bird Houses Plus.

Joe Sansonetti of Holly, who sold a variety of homemade sauces, said he appreciates the Clawson Farmers Market because of the consistent business.

"I like it," Sansonetti said. "There are buyers here, people actually come here and they buy."

Marianne Palmieri, of Troy, was at the market purchasing fresh vegetables for her pet guinea pig and pet rats. Palmieri said she likes the Clawson Farmers Market because it's small and with a smaller crowd compared to other area markets.

"I think it's cute," Palmieri said.

Seema Shah, of Royal Oak, said the Clawson Farmers Market is good for everyone because the vendors are bringing fresh produce and niche products right into the community and residents can support Michigan businesses.

"It's very nice for the local people," Shah said.

The Farmers Market is scheduled to be open every Sunday at City Park from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. through Sept. 18. The market is closed Labor Day weekend.
