Searchers Combing Montrose Area for Body of Missing Troy Father Patrick Joseph Mikes
Troy residents and police from several departments comb a nearly 25-square-mile area of Genesee on a rainy Thursday looking for the body of Patrick Joseph Mikes Sr.
Dozens of citizens and police personnel searched a nearly 25-square-mile rural area in Genesee County on a rainy Thursday for the body of a missing Troy father.
Searchers, separated into 17 separate patrols, wore raincoats and dayglow vests as they fanned out through the woods, looking for signs of the body of avid bicyclist Patrick Joseph Mikes Sr., 55, who was last seen alive in his home on July 26.
Many of the searchers were Troy residents, and they joined police departments and K-9 officers from Troy and across Michigan.
Patrick Joseph Mikes Jr., the son of missing Troy man Patrick Joseph Mikes, was arrested Wednesday and was arraigned Thursday afternoon at 52-4 District Court in Troy on a charge of homicide-open murder.
According to a media release from the Troy Police Department, investigators are still focusing on areas along Interstate 75 between Troy and Montrose, which is north of Flint in Genesee County. "Investigators are also focusing on Saturday, July 29, 2012 between the hours of 10:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. as a time of significance," the release stated.

Police are also asking anyone who may have seen a beige 2002 Infinity 135 in the areas listed above, during the times listed above, to call Troy Police.
Police spent Friday searching for Mikes' body in Genesee County using cadaver dogs, WXYZ reported. Fox 2 reported police had searched the Flint River in Montrose and circulated a flier of the Infiniti, which police believe may have been used to move the body.
Police also searched the Brent Run landfill in Montrose and the 8,000-acre Holly Recreation Area in Oakland County, Local 4 reported.
Police believe Mikes was killed in a violent altercation in the basement of his Troy home on Homewood Drive between July 26 and 28. He was last seen alive by his 16-year-old son, Andrew Mikes, on the evening of July 26.
Mikes did not show up for work on July 27, and investigators believe his 21-year-old son, Mikes Jr., who has been the only named suspect in his father's disappearance, did not see his father leaving for a bike ride that day, as he first reported to police Sunday morning.
Mikes Jr. also was seen on surveillance video purchasing a large quantity of cleaning supplies at a local store on July 27, according to Troy police.
Mikes Jr. was charged last Wednesday morning with fraudulently using his younger brother's American Express card to make purchases at the AMC Theatre and Johnny Rocket's in Auburn Hills on July 26. He was released last Thursday afternoon after his maternal grandparents paid his $50,000 bond, police said. He has been ordered not to contact his younger brother or leave the state.
Police say there is no known history of violent altercations between Mikes Jr. and his father.
Several agencies have contributed to the investigation, including Michigan State Police, Oakland County Sheriff's Office, Genesee County Sheriff's Office, Montrose Police Department, FBI, Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office and the Major Case Assistance Team.
The Major Case Assistance Team includes investigators from the Auburn Hills Police Department, Birmingham Police Department, Bloomfield Township Police Department, Clawson Police Department, and the Rochester Hills substation of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
Redmond said numerous tips from the public have already assisted investigators. Anyone who has any information about Mikes is asked to contact the Troy Police Department at 248-524-3477.

That poor man! I hope they find and recover his body quickly. What a horrible situation. The oldest son was charged with murder. Is he not saying anything at all about this? Is he not showing any kind of emotion? If the son is truly guilty of murdering his father, what could drive him to do such a despicable thing? What is wrong with people that they decide murder is the only solution to their problems???
