My wife is a teacher in Flint and we have been pushing for this pass. Its not right that these teachers should have to go into gang and crime infested areas and not have the right to defend themselves. I think it would go a long way to end these school shootings if some the school staff were armed. Knowing there are or may be armed staff at the school is a deterrent.

"Gun free zones" are nothing more than "murderer free reign zones." Allow guns in schools.

I agree with the people above. People who are for gun restrictions need to learn that anyone who wants a gun is not going to obey the law in the first place and second, anyone who wants a gun can obtain one quickly and illegally on the street any time. Maybe if more TRAINED people qualified to carry had guns for defense, others would be less inclined to go in blazing.

Ive taken the time to attend these classes. I am worried for my children with all the violence in our country. I hope the gov signs this. A locked door wont protect my little girl or my son. The police cant be everywhere at once.

These comments are unbelievable. After the horrific events of last week you people want to make it even easier for crazed lunatics to buy weapons and bring them into schools? What a slap in the face to all of the parents who lost 1st graders in Newtown. JC

I think you misunderstand what we are asking for. We are asking for those teachers to be allowed to defend themselves and all those helpless children. Those lunatics will get the guns regardless of the laws. They are extremely easy to get on the streets.

What we are asking for is for those poor souls (the adults) who were murdered be allowed to carry guns so they could have defended themselves. If any of those adults had been armed, I seriously doubt that any of the children would have been killed and fewer adults. We are asking that we not be constantly at the mercy of those lunatics with no way to defend ourselves.

I hope this clarifies what we are asking for.

This is what I see, the two sides to this issue are. There are those who think if you carry a gun, you will just willy nilly use it. that they are itching to use it, from what I see, that is far from the truth. Then there are those who can't relate to the people who feel and be sensitive to those, who can't understand that a gun in say a school is a bad thing. I know right now this week end it is 28 - 0, cause no gun was in school.

I do not own a gun never have.

It sounds bad, gun in school or church it does
Ron who feels any one who likes or carries a gun is a bad person, it is too easy to get approved. too easy to use it in a wrong way. could it be harder to get a permit, ? perhaps.
No body in that school carried a gun, that I have heard could the out come been different, probably
If the Principal or office workers, had permits, a good chance no one would of been killed, shame a principal would have to
As we have seen, locks keep honest people out. Permits are obtained by honest well wrapped people
Ron, so far no lunatic has done such a deed, that I know of
There are Prosecutors and Defense atty's, both are atty's, one defends the people, the other defends the person accused. A Person with a permit defends him self and others, no permit and carrying a gun means your up to no good.
All the lunatics so far, DID NOT have a permit.
A police man seen means gun & protection,.a person carrying a gun in the open & seen means the same - a uniform

Everybody seems to forget that persons who acquire a Concealed Pistol License have completed, and passed, training classes and target range proficiency before they can even apply for the license. Upon submitting the application the person undergoes a background check, federal and local, before the license is approved. The training class, target range time and materials and the CPL Application all cost considerable money, about $300. Upon the CPL renewal the person has to renew their classroom training, range time/accuracy and reapply for the CPL, all of which cost additional funds. People who have gone through all the training, background checks and been approved should be considered more reliable and trustworthy with regards to handling of firearms overall. I do not worry at all about the person who has a CPL and, furthermore, they should be allowed to carry anywhere and without restrictions of any sort, including into any business, church, school or place now on the restricted list.

When a police man stops some with a gun and he produces the paper work, that officer know all this person went through to get it and cost involved. much like when one talks to a person with a PHD, or Dr. in front and has been accused of some thing, we would.say ? that doesn't make sense..... a person who goes the 9 yrd's to obtain a permit, is not going throw it all away, on some rage.... (one hopes)

As far as permits, No permit was Needed to get Fertilizer etc. in Ok. City. If a person is up to no good, a lock or pc of paper will not stop...... but they do stop impulses
