Weekend Planner: Bowl-A-Thon, Mom 2 Mom Sale, Film Festival

A roundup of weekend events in Clawson and surrounding areas.

 

1. 3rd Annual Bowl-a-Thon

The Clawson Police Department will host a bowl-a-thon Saturday in conjunction with the Clawson Rotary Club to raise money for its annual scholarship to Clawson students. The event will be at Thunderbird Lanes, 400 W. Maple Rd. in Troy. Entry fee includes three games of bowling, shoes, pizza and pop. A cash bar, door raffle and 50/50 will be available. Check-in begins at 8:45 p.m. and bowling starts at 9 p.m. Admission is $20. 

2. Guardian Angels Mom 2 Mom Spring Sale

Guardian Angels will host a Mom 2 Mom Sale on Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. There will be more than 100 vendor tables plus a bake sale and concessions. Early bird admission is $1 before 8:30 a.m. and $2 after 9 a.m.      

3. Free Play Time

If you're looking for something to do with the children this weekend, Nature's Playhouse, inside the Hunter Community Center, hosts free drop-in play time for children on the second Saturday of each month. The play sessions are from 9:30-11 a.m. 

4. Wild Winter Weekend

The Detroit Zoo will host Wild Winter Weekend: Safari Scavenger from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Go on a winter safari scavenger hunt through the Zoo. Ice cream and hot cocoa will be available for purchase and activities include face painting, arts and crafts, animal enrichment and zookeeper talks. Zoo admission is $15 for ages 15 and older and $8 for ages 2-14.

5. Uptown Film Festival

Birmingham will host the Uptown Film Festival Thursday-Saturday at Palladium 12 and Birmingham 8 in downtown Birmingham. With screenings of more than 50 films, the Uptown Film Festival celebrates the state's film industry by honoring movies made partly or entirely in Michigan.
