City Employees Celebrate Season of Giving with Donation to Clawson Food Pantry
The city's Casual Day marks a generous donation to the local charitable organization.
Though it's not Casual Friday yet, you might notice Clawson employees dressed a little more loosely Thursday, if you're wandering around City Hall.
According to Mayor Penny Luebs, during the first and second pay periods of each month, $2.50 is deducted from the paychecks of each of the 18 city employees for a Casual Day donation.
You may be wondering why employees need to pay to wear their blue jeans every once in a while.

Every year since 1997, the deducted money has gone toward a charity chosen by those employees participating in Casual Day. This year's recipient is the Clawson Food Pantry, to which nearly $1,000 has been donated so far.
Take a look at the list at the benefiting charities from the past 16 years.
