Clawson Business Lends a Helping Hand to Benefit Mothers in Need

Here's how you can help Pontiac Family Focus Health Services this weekend, right from Clawson.

When owners Lisa Ball and Michelle McEvoy of Clawson's Nature's Playhouse, heard of an upcoming community baby shower event assisting underprivileged mothers and mothers to-be, they just had to lending a helping hand.

New and gently used baby essentials can be dropped off during Nature's Playhouse (509 Fisher Ct., Clawson) open house on Saturday, April 20, from 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Donations are being accepted until May 3 at Nature's Playhouse.

Nature's Playhouse is a Waldorf-education inspired infant/toddler play-center featuring "all natural" toys and play elements for toddlers designed to encourage creative play, artistic expression, and social capacity in young people, and wellness center for caregivers.

"I am so thrilled that a center like Nature's Playhouse could help with getting the word out about our event, we want to help as many mothers as we can with desperately needed baby essentials," said Chandra Graves of Family Focus Health Services.

The Pontiac-based organization offers referrals for transportation, housing assistance, nutrition, child birth and parenting education, domestic violence and substance abuse counseling.  

A community baby shower is scheduled on Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m. at the Walton Park Manor Club House (26 Leanee Ln., Pontiac). Expecting mothers and new mothers who are in need, and would like to participate in this event can contact Tameka Ramsey at (248) 812-9850.
