Kiddie Events to Kick Off Fourth of July Celebration

A parade, garage sale, Big Wheel Race and more will take place this Saturday.

Fourth of July may be more than a week away, but Clawson will start the celebrations early with a load of children's events Saturday.

Kiddie Garage Sale

Youth Assistance is sponsoring a children's garage sale from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at City Park. At least 12 families are participating, and there will be an assortment of children's toys and clothing on a section of picnic tables. This is the second year Youth Assistance has sponsored this event.

Kiddie Parade

The parade is sponsored by the and begins at 11 a.m. Children will line up in the parking lot and the parade route will end at City Park. Children in the parade typically decorate bikes, scooters or wagons, carry streamers and wear festive clothing. The public is welcome to bring children out to walk in the parade, no registration in necessary.

Kiddie Games

There will be plenty of children's games at City Park, including a candy scramble at 11:45 a.m.

Big Wheel Race

Children can participate in a Big Wheel Race beginning at noon near the tennis courts at City Park. The race is sponsored by Tri-County Ace Hardware. Winners get to take home a big wheeler for a prize.

Coney Days

From 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the City Park pavilion, the will host Coney Days. There will be hot dogs, chips, popcorn and more for sale.
