Troy Woman Wins Cod-Toss at Norwegian Celebration

The celebration in Farmington Hills was held in honor of Norway's Constitution Day.

The Farmington area Nordkap Lodge of the Sons of Norway hosted its annual Norwegian Constitution Day celebration Saturday at the Swedish Club on Ruth Street in Farmington Hills.

Norwegians traditionally celebrate the national holiday, also known as "syttende mai", on May 17, the day the Norwegian Constitution was signed in 1814. The local event, which drew people of Norwegian descent from around metropolitan Detroit, included a parade around the club grounds and the annual cod toss, during which contestants fling frozen fish and compete for prizes.
