What Would You Improve in Clawson in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Clawson, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Clawson to make it an even better place to live?

Would you like to see the school district improve? Bring more businesses into town? Improve the community parks?

We asked our Facebook page friends their resolutions for Clawson and they responded with the following ideas:

  • "Clawson should fix the track so CHS can have home track meets" - Christa Kalcec
  • "Bring Cycleworks back" - Eric Johnson

What about you? What is on your Clawson wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013?

Tell us in the comment section below or blog about why you love living here!

Get the traffic lights on Livernois/Main St. between 14 Mile & 15 Mile timed out correctly. If we want to get more traffic downtown, we need to remove any impediment. I know people who literally avoid that stretch of road, only because of the traffic lights. Getting stuck at every light (which can and does happen) can add several minutes to your drive, and it's only for a minimal amount of cross traffic. Fix it!

I'm one of those residents who avoid Main Street because of the insane merge of traffic at Main/14 Mile where you must merge from the right lane to the left lane, then back right in order to turn west on 14 Mile. Wonder who the brain was who thought of that one--that's an accident waiting to happen to anyone who is unfamiliar with it. Probably the same designer who came up with congesting traffic by narrowing the main streets to put parking spaces in front of businesses with their own parking lots.

I want the traffic lights back on 14 mile rd. In front of the Senior center and on Manitou. With all the new shopping on both sides of 14 mile between Crooks and Manitou it's almost impossible to turn left onto 14 from either side. Maybe the shops can help pay for the installation of the discarded lights ( which are sitting in the DPW yard?)----for the safety of their customers???????? Also, It's sad to see the seniors struggle to cross 14 mile, using walkers, canes etc. just to buy something to eat across the street...

Fred your right. that area has been redone 4 times........ now it looks like a Southern town, as your dropping out of the Appalachian Mt.s, with all the red neck Yellow signs, It was two lanes, then to 3, a right turn lane added, then a(4) left turn lane added, then a rest area added, and now this humble jumble .......... I expect to see a boy and a guy, playing Bongo's, like the Dueling type. right by one of the yellow road signs, as for more drivers down town, more and more are by-passing, using Rochester rd, & Crooks, and this mouse trap was premeditated., I am surprise you are using Main street, why not use By-wood every one else is...............

oh no not the I see walkers and canes scenario again. They have their own place to eat, in side, they are crossing to buy Alcohol, some body that age should not be eating Cheese whoppers, or stone cold Pizza, not good for them. as for sitting to make a turn, one hr out of the day, you have to wait for group of cars to thin out.so for 23 hr's we add out dated lights, that were taken down for a reason, the one at The High rise, was taken down cause no one used it to cross. even the hand full of kids who do walk, cross at main, it is social hr. waiting for the Light to turn. as for stores on both side ??? I find it amazing that retires who live on the South side, are always walking their pets, on the North side .......no store in clawson makes enough to pay 100,000 for new lights, and the 14,000 a yr maint fee. The goal o0f U S Dot, and M-dot, is to use less lights and signage. By the way the lights at DPW arer out dated not usable, one hve to purchase the new ones, and before that, the real new ones are all L.E. D............ savings on Bulbs, are metered to show exact usage per lamp, (down 90%) little or no Maint. fees since bulbs last 10 to 15 yr's, since Clawson has the largest DPW, per sq mile, of the 31 cities in The County, we can change them out selves. there's a quadriplegic man in a chair crosses 14 mile every day, takes 11 seconds..... oh he crosses at the lite.
