Taking It Higher

CMNtv Announces 1-Day Event for Video & Film Producers

Troy, MI - 8-23-12 - CMNtv, a nonprofit access cable television station in Troy, Michigan, has announced it will host a one-day event featuring four speakers who will discuss different aspects of building toward success in film and video production. The event, called "Taking it Higher," includes a luncheon and facility tour of the CMNtv studio and production facilities from 11:30am to 1pm, followed by two hours of presentations from 1pm to 3pm. 

The speakers are author and MI Production Alliance founder, Mark Adler; author and PBS series host/producer, Kurt David; Marketing Coordinator for Oakland County Film, and Editor of e-newsletter "A Wrap," Susan Dorris; and CMNtv Executive Director, Jay Wiencko.

The topics include: preparing for freelance work, programming for PBS, Oakland County film and video opportunities, and production services as offered by CMNtv. The topics are intended to appeal to prospective producers of "commercial" television, or those who have an interest in working within the field of production here in Michigan.

The $20 cost includes the presentations, lunch (sponsored by Advanced Lighting & Sound of Troy), and a one-year membership to the Alliance for Community Media (MI Chapter), an organization that supports access television throughout the state, region and country. CMNtv is a 501c3 nonprofit, incorporated in 1983. It manages training and facilitation of programming of Public Access cable television for 11 southeast Oakland County municipalities. CMNtv is based in a 6600 sq. ft. facility in Troy, MI, that features, two studio, eight Final Cut Pro X edit suites, a multi-camera mobile production truck, and a host of HD production equipment.

 

CMNtv also manages Government Access cable television for the City of Rochester, MI.
