Clawson has a shot at winning a free concert by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra if the community receives enough support from voters in a DSO-DTE Energy Foundation contest.
The is in the running with several other venues across Oakland County. Voters must first select Oakland County in a poll with other southeast Michigan counties and then leave a comment in support of Clawson High School. The winner will be announced on June 20.
"We would welcome a concert by DSO with enthusiasm, cheers and open arms," Mayor Penny Luebs said at the City Council meeting Tuesday. Several community members nominated Clawson, she said.
Luebs said a DSO concert would help the city accomplish its goal of hosting more arts and culture events. DSO concerts will be held September 19-22.
