School District Hosts Chinese Educator

Clawson Public Schools is one of three school districts in Michigan selected to host Taihe Chen, an educator and team leader from the Zhigu Oriental Foreign Language School in Guilin,China. During his visit Monday, October 14, Mr. Chen visited Clawson High School to observe classrooms, particularly advanced placement classes.

 Clawson educators, building and district level administrators together with Mr. Chen are working on the following programs:

·         Setting up an exchange program for Zhigu Oriental Foreign Language School students to attend high schools in the U.S. The Chinese educators find value in the quality of the American school system and are interested in students attending American universities upon completion of high school.

·         Setting up an American style high school in Guilin, China.

In addition to Clawson, Mark Francis and the team from FYI-CSI Consultants in School Improvement, headquartered in Highland, Michigan, arranged for the Chinese delegation to visit Farmington Harrison High School, Walled Lake Central High School, the University of Michigan, Oakland University and Michigan State University.
