Thanksgiving Alternative: Local Eateries to Serve Diners

At least three Clawson restaurants will be open on the holiday.

It's a common tradition for many families to gather on Thanksgiving Day and enjoy turkey and stuffing while giving thanks. But for those who burn the turkey or want to dine at a restaurant instead, there are a few local options.

Clawson Grill

The is open every year for Thanksgiving. The restaurant's hours this year are 7 a.m.-1 p.m.

“We’re usually steady on Thanksgiving,” owner Sara Riza said. “We see a lot of friendly faces.”

Riza said the Thanksgiving specials will be pumpkin pancakes with maple pumpkin butter for $5.25; eggs benedict with hashbrowns for $6.95 and layered turkey bowl for $6.95.

Nick's Country Oven

will be open 7 a.m.- 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. The restaurant will offer soup, salad and dessert with all of its dinner options, including the specials.

The Thanksgiving meal specials will be stuffed green peppers with mashed potatoes, chicken pot pie, sweet & sour chicken, London broil steak, chicken marsala and chicken carbonero. All specials cost $7.95.

National Coney Island

in Clawson will be open 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. While the restaurant plans to serve regular menu items, it will be showing the Lions game against the Green Bay Packers and America's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit on its TVs.

Restaurants such as , , and will be closed on Thanksgiving Day so employees can be with their families.
