Bites Nearby: Due Venti

Menu of northern Italian fare and just 12 tables in serene setting make for a cozy bite out.

Due Venti, 220 S. Main Street, Clawson (248) 288-0220

A true bistro – if you go back to the origin of the word – is what is. Husband and wife team David and Nicole Seales collaborate on a menu of northern Italian fare for just 12 tables in their serene setting. It's just one room done up in soft yellow and purple and artworks by Nicole's late grandmother.

The menu is free of cliches and each dish is a specialty, beginning with the antipasti list that offers such dishes as basil-scented ricotta cheesecake and soups typified by subtle garlic and sage topped with slivers of apple.

There is a limited selection of wine, all from Fenn Valley winery here in Michigan.
