Celebrate Your Furry Friends At The Annual Dog Dayz of Summer Event

Paws for Life Rescue's Dogz Dayz of Summer will be held at Leon & Lulu this Sunday from 1-4 p.m. and those of all ages are invited to join in on the fun.

Animal lovers of all kinds are invited to this Sunday afternoon to take a break from the heat and enjoy an event celebrating our furry friends.

The second annual Dog Dayz of Summer will be held from 1-4 p.m. and is sponsored by the Paws for Life Rescue.

This family-friendly event will be complete with all sorts of festivities including shopping, a dog parade, free lunch, wine, games, face painting and vendors. Homeless cats, kittens and dogs will also be on-site for those looking to bring home a new companion.

Paws for Life, based in Troy, operates as a voice for animals, speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. The non-profit organization aims to successfully match homeless dogs and cats with lifelong, loving homes while educating the public on general animal welfare issues.

Last year’s Dog Dayz for Summer drew 250 people from all over to the Clawson store, and expectations for this year’s event are even greater.

“Families can do something together that’s low cost to no cost; they get to get out of the house and enjoy the weather, support their local community and help homeless pets in need,” said Courtney Protz-Sanders, executive director of Paws for Life.

Those looking to help out in other ways can bring items to donate including dog cages and carriers, cat scratching posts, dog and cat collars and toys, and heartworm medication. A complete list can be found below.

Ten percent of all sales at Leon & Lulu on Sunday will also be donated to Paws for Life.

“We hold a lot of charity events and we think this one is for a really good cause because pets are close to all of our hearts,” said Maureen O’Reilly, coordinator at Leon & Lulu. “It should be a really fun and exciting family event.”

“Clawson residents love their pets and so we love Clawson,” adds Protz-Sanders.
