Clawson Pharmacy Closes Doors After Decades of Service to the Community

The 14 Mile Road location is officially out of business.

A decades-long Clawson staple is no more.

After many years in the city, the Clawson Pharmacy on 14 Mile Road is officially closed for business.

A simple sign on the door from owner Gabe Zawaideh thanks patrons for their dedication, but explains that he and his wife have 5 young children and the pressure of operating a successful business is becoming too hard on the family.

All records from the Clawson Pharmacy have been transferred to the CVS location at 14 Mile Road and Crooks. Those medications that are owed can be picked up at the CustomCare Pharmacy inside of Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.

The closing of the Clawson business has caught many off guard including resident Cynndi Kratz who says, "I have been dealing at Clawson Pharmacy for years and was shocked by this."

"The closing of Clawson Pharmacy will be a tremendous loss to our community," adds Kratz, who notes that she will will miss the personal service that the Clawson Pharmacy provided.

According to Mayor Penny Luebs, if a new business wants to move into the spot that housed the Clawson Pharmacy or if it remains empty for over 6 months, the Planning Board will then weigh in.
