Farmers Market Profile: Treat Your Sweet Tooth with Just Desserts

Handmade pies, sweet breads and infused sugar— those are just a few of the items a customer can find at Just Desserts, one vendor at the every Sunday.

For Pat and Allan Kosack, baking comes naturally and they could not be more proud to share their creations.

With more than 50 years of dessert-making experience, this husband and wife duo officially began their home-based business two years ago inside of their Royal Oak kitchen. Making most of their income from clients purchasing the sweets for parties and other events, this is the first summer the Kosacks have set up a booth at a public location like the Farmers Market.

“People are very curious about our products so they stop by to see what we're about,” said Allan.

Getting the idea for Just Desserts' unique “pies on a stick” product from a magazine she read, Pat knew she had to try them out for herself. These perfectly portioned tarts are about four bites a piece and come in flavors such as raspberry rhubarb and blackberry, with new kinds swapping in each week.

Just Desserts is one of the only businesses in Oakland County to offer infused sugar. The product comes in a variety of forms and is available in pre-packaged containers, with a long shelf life. These special flavored crystals add a tasty kick to any type of product that calls for sugar and are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.

“It has been beyond my wildest dreams, really, of just how many people are interested in our business,” said Pat.
