Manager Has New Vision for Tease Salon

New manager of Tease has a business plan that includes community involvement and new services for the downtown Clawson salon.

, a hair salon in downtown Clawson, has been clipping hair for about three years and now has a new manager, Kami Bacher, stepping up to the plate with a new vision for the stylish salon. Bacher has been a stylist at Tease for nearly a year and is thrilled to have the opportunity to manage and makeover the business.

Although Bacher is pleased with the flow of regular clients and walk-in customers at Tease, she said she would like the salon to become more involved in the community. This plan would include increasing their Clawson customer base.

“Clawson is such a great little city; I feel we need to reach out to become more of the community,” Bacher said. “I strive for it to be a nice, fun neighborhood salon.”

Bacher’s first idea was to take buckets full of goodies and $20 off coupons to local businesses and schools. Over the course of the next few months Bacher is confident that community members will see a positive change in Tease’s support of local organizations and charities as well.

Pearl Feola, receptionist at Tease who has worked at the salon for a year and a half, said Bacher’s vision is great.

“I really respect her, she knows a lot about the business,” Feola said of Bacher. “I think it’s going to be great to have some changes.”

Aside from internally trying to curb the mission of the business, Bacher plans to readjust the color scheme by taking out some of the pink décor and replacing it with green. Pink will still be a fluent color throughout the building, it will just be blended with green a bit more. The back wall in particular will be painted green.

New services and outreach

Other areas of change include trying to make a face for themselves digitally, advertise massages more and add nail treatments and facials to their list of services. Currently Tease is in the process of having a new website created and the salon recently created its own Facebook page.

“We are finally going digital and moving forward,” Bacher said.

One of the seven stylists, Alana Mechem, who also works at Tease’s brother salon , creates her own organic products that she uses for manicures and pedicures. Bacher is happy to offer customers a new service and pleased that they can offer their customers something organic.

“I had an idea to put together an organic manicure and pedicure and I actually found a soy based nail polish remover and I’m making some of my own scrubs,” Mechem said. “I also found some nail polish that is formaldehyde free which eliminates the harsh nasty odors.” In addition to a new nail treatment, Bacher hopes to start offering facials in mid-March.

Since Bacher is still only in her first month as manager, there are many changes that she envisions, but she said the company will take it one step at a time. Tease’s product lines will stay the same, as will its prices, aside from color prices, which Bacher said would be going down.

“I like this salon because it’s low key,” said customer Janet Mason, a 67-year-old Birmingham resident. “Kami’s improved my hair color greatly.”

One popular product at the salon is Keratin Complex Express Blow Out, a treatment that de-frizzes hair, reduces blow dry time and makes hair smooth. The treatment costs $70 and lasts for six weeks. Full color and highlights are popular services at the salon as well.

According to Bacher, they are approaching their busy season right now because March and April are when people want to feel brightened up so they seek out salons for a new color, look or style.

“We want to be Clawson’s salon,” Feola said.
