Hogger's BBQ in Berkley: The Southern barbecue restaurant will reopen Monday, Nov. 26, at its original location at 2959 12 Mile Road. There will be several changes to the 2012 Berkley Patch Readers' Choice award-winner including the addition of coffee, breakfast and open mic nights. Hogger's will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday before adding breakfast hours in 2013.
Butterfly Bake Shoppe in Berkley: December will be a bittersweet month for Butterfly Bake Shoppe owner Dawn Schwanke, who plans to close the popular Berkley bakery so she can spend more time with her family. The 2012 Readers' Choice award-winner located at 2752 Coolidge Highway will close Dec. 22.
Hamlin's Corner in Royal Oak: The restaurant slated to open in the Main North Lofts building at 376-386 Main St. snagged the "Best of the Best" and "Spiciest" awards during the 2012 Royal Oak Chili Cook-Off on Nov. 10. The proposed 6,700-square-foot restaurant/bar plans to serve pizza, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches and fish and chips. Hamlin's Corner also has been approved for a liquor license.
Bloomberry Frozen Yogurt in Rochester Hills: The cultured frozen yogurt shop that opened this summer offers six flavors of soft-serve, including one dairy-free sorbet. There are more than 30 toppings to select from, including fresh fruit from Papa Joe's. Bloomberry Frozen Yogurt is located at 6900 N. Rochester Road next to Papa Joe's. Its hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from noon to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. Call 248-453-5334 with questions. Bloomberry also has a location in Royal Oak at 30274 Woodward Ave.
Tim Horton's in Troy: A new restaurant and coffee shop located just west of Bahama Breeze on Big Beaver Road between Livernois and Rochester roads opened Monday.
Treat Dreams in Ferndale: The ice cream shop has partnered with Patch to host a flavor contest. Get as creative as you like with the ingredients. This is Treat Dreams, after all – home to flavors like Hot Jalapeno and Sunday Breakfast (yes, with bacon!). Share your ideas by 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 28.
