Better Than Antioxidants – A Remarkable Scientific Breakthrough

Learn how science has discovered a remarkable breakthrough that substantially increases antioxidants naturally to greatly reduce oxidative stress.

In our previous blogs, we discussed oxidative stress, its association with over 200 diseases, and how antioxidants have been increasingly recognized as a way to reduce free radical damage and oxidative stress.  The unfortunate reality is that we cannot consume enough direct antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, fruits, and vegetables to effectively fight the amount of free radicals in our bodies.

Typically, our bodies produce about 130,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 free radical molecules daily.  A staggering number, without a doubt!  The simple math is that one molecule of a direct antioxidant eliminates one free radical molecule.  However, to eliminate all the free radicals that exist, one would need to literally consume bushels of berries, other fruits, and vegetables.  That is both impractical and unrealistic.  It’s like throwing a cup of water on a burning house.

Fortunately, science has found a way to produce enough antioxidants in sufficient numbers to adequately fight the enormous number of free radicals.  Nutrigenomics is defined by Wikipedia as “the study of the effects of foods and food constituents on gene expression.  In other words, it is about how our DNA is transcribed into mRNA and then to proteins and provides a basis for understanding the biological activity of food components.”

Wouldn’t it be remarkable if science found a way for our bodies to naturally produce enough antioxidants to adequately fight the enormous number of free radicals?  Well, it has! Protandim® is an Nrf2 Synergizer™ and turns on the survival genes in our bodies to naturally increase our antioxidant proteins such as SOD, catalase, and glutathione.  Remarkably, Protandim® neutralizes free radicals at a rate of 1,000,000 to 1 per second, every second.  It’s like having a fire hose in every room of the house putting out that fire, rather than just a cup.

Protandim® is all natural and contains five ingredients that have been used for centuries to improve health, including green tea, turmeric, milk thistle, bacopa, and ashwagandha.  It holds four patents and is supported by numerous peer-reviewed scientific studies by major research centers across the country and internationally.  Research has shown that Protandim® reduces oxidative stress in our bodies by an average of 40% in the first 30 days.  It increases the production of antioxidant enzymes glutathione by 300%, catalase 54%, and SOD or superoxide dismutase 34%.

In our upcoming blogs, we will explore some of the scientific studies regarding Protandim® and stories about how it is significantly improving people’s health.

I was just reading up on this product....looks amazing!

Hi Dr. Tocco, Thank you for responding to my blog. Protandim is amazing, based on the extensive scientific peer-reviewed studies that validate its effectiveness in reducing oxidative stress and associated diseases, as well as the countless number of personal testimonials from individuals experiencing relief from various medical conditions. An increasing number of healthcare practitioners are recognizing the value of Protandim for their patients.

I'm sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but this is simply an advertisement for an unproven product. It should be labelled as such.

Do you have any links to your publish research, Dr Zuza? It sounds like you're making extraordinary claims for an antioxidant and research on antioxidants so far has been fairly disappointing in showing any substantial benefit. Don't forget that there are cellular mechanisms in place (superoxide dismutase, anyone?) that are already in your body.

Oxidants are actually important signaling molecules, so you don't want to eliminate them all. Eating fruits and veggies is certainly sufficient to health. Don't buy this pseudoscientific rubbish. This short piece uses at least 3 logical fallacies (appeal to authority by using the term nutrigenomics, argument from antiquity by stating the ingredients have been used for centuries, and naturalistic fallacy). I would encourage everyone to read a critical review of this product at http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/index.php/pursued-by-protandim-proselytizers/ and wait for further evidence.

The fact of the matter is that Protandim contains tumeric which has been naturally used as medicine for ages. Ever get a cut? Throw tumeric on it and it'll stop bleeding. I'm not too sure about the other ingredients in this thing, but people need to do their own research. Doctors are merely people that prescribe things that pharm companies pitch them. Most pharmaceuticals are garbage and worse than meth. Just read the side effects for things that are suppose to stop restless leg syndrome. Death? Cancer? What the fuck? lol. People need to do their own research, try things and monitor the results. That's all doctors do anyway with dangerous pharmaceuticals.

Peter way to call it like it is!

"Protandim® is all natural and contains five ingredients that have been used for centuries to improve health, including green tea, turmeric, milk thistle, bacopa, and ashwagandha. " I think they forgot the 6th and most important ingredient: Snake Oil.
