5 Things to Do This Weekend

Weekend happenings for those looking for events in the Clawson area.

After a long week of work, there's nothing more relaxing than a little time with friends or loved ones. Here are five events in Clawson for your enjoyment this weekend.

Library Grand Re-Opening

is hosting a Grand Re-Opening Celebration from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a session with Melodie Nichols, curator for the Clawson Historical Museum, titled "Celebrate the Past: See How Far We've Come," a selection by the Sweet Adeline Quartet called Overture, and an animal program with Dan the Creature Man. There will also be library tours, book signings, refreshments and a quilt raffle.

Band and Dance Night 

If you are looking for a place to dine and dance this weekend, the Mark James Band plays at the 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The local band plays any genre of music that will bring guests to the dance floor.

Children's Magic Class

in Clawson will offer a Cards I magic class  10 a.m.-11 a.m. Saturday for children ages 7-13. Magic instructor Dave Soydel will teach the interactive class where kids will learn card, coin and rope magic tricks. Purchase six classes for $100 and use them any time within six months.

Clawson Goodfellows Paper Sale

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, the Goodfellows will be at all major intersections in Clawson selling special newspapers for donations. They hope to fill boots with donations that will fund their efforts to provide toys and gifts to needy families during the holidays.

Clawson Lions Club Pancake Breakfast

The Clawson Lions Club is having a pancake breakfast 8 a.m.-noon Sunday in the community room of . The pancake breakfast proceeds will help fund many of the charity programs put on by the Lions Club. For $5, visitors can have eggs to order, french toast, strawberry or blueberry pancakes and a beverage.
