5 Things You Should Know This Week

A roundup of events and meetings in Clawson this week.

1. The Clawson School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the .

2. Guest historian Debbie Remer of the Rochester Hills Historical Museum will be at the Blair Memorial Library on Monday to discuss Lost Villages of Oakland and Macomb Counties. The free event begins at 6:30 p.m.

3. The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday. You may register to vote at the City Clerk's Office (located inside Clawson City Hall) or at any Secretary of State branch office. Click here for more voting information.

4. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life will hold a volunteer committee meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. The organization is starting to plan the 2012 Relay for Life in Clawson. It is seeking walkers, cancer survivors, caregivers and community leaders to help plan the event and recruit participants.

5. It's Fire Prevention Week! The will be visiting the local elementary schools this week to discuss fire prevention including the 'stop, drop and roll' routine, exit drills and the need for smoke detectors. The fire department will host an open house at noon on Sunday Oct. 16.
