Christmas Spotlight: Selfridge Lights Up Neighborhood

Residents keep the unity in their neighborhood with Christmas decor.

Christmas tradition has brought one Clawson neighborhood closer.

Every year the residents on Selfridge get together for a 'Christmas Crawl' and go house to house as a group for an evening of food, karaoke a gift exchanges. This year, the neighbors decided to decorate the island in front of their homes with ornaments and also light paths around their homes with luminaries the night of the crawl, Dec. 16.

"It was quite beautiful and we had quite a bit of interest from people passing by," resident Linda Hale said.

Hale said the Christmas Crawl is a symbol of neighborhood unity and believes other neighborhoods can adopt a similar tradition.

"I feel very blessed to have such wonderful neighbors," Hale said. "I believe that since we started this, we have become an even closer knit neighborhood."
