Get Out: Fish Fry, Film Festival, Breakfast and More

A roundup of weekend happenings in Clawson and surrounding areas for March 11-13

1. FISH FRY

Where/when: , Friday 4:30-7 p.m.

Why go: The Knights of Columbus is having an all you can eat fish fry on Friday. Included in your dinner are baked and fried fish, crab cakes, mac and cheese, baked or fried potatoes, rolls, vegetables, dessert and a beverage.

Pricing: $8 adults, $7.50 seniors, $4.50 children

2. BAND FESTIVAL

Where/when: on Friday 3:30-9 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Why go: The band competition continues. Clawson High School is hosting the District 16 Band Festival again this weekend. Bands and orchestras from Clawson High School as well as surrounding areas including Troy, Rochester, Warren, Sterling Heights and others will be performing.

3. UPTOWN FILM FESTIVAL

Where/when:  and Birmingham 8 in downtown Birmingham, Friday and Saturday

Why go: Friday is opening night for the Uptown Film Festival, which celebrates Michigan being part of the film industry. The event will feature the VIP Premiere showing of Kill the Irishman on Friday. Proceeds will benefit the DIA, Arthritis Foundation and Gleaners Food Bank.

Pricing: $10 for general admission, $75 for an event pass, $150 for VIP pass

4. BREAKFAST CLUB

Where/when: , Sunday 8:30 a.m.-noon

Why go: Knights of Columbus will have a breakfast club with all-you-can-eat eggs, sausage, pancakes, french toast, coffee and orange juice. All proceeds will go to charity.

Pricing: $5 adults, $4 seniors, $3 children

5. HOME IMPROVEMENT EXPO

Where/when: , 2325 Catalpa Dr. in Berkley, on Saturday 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

Why go: The fifth annual Home Berkley Home Improvement Expo will be in the gymnasium of Berkley High School on Saturday.  If you want to make improvements to your home, there will be plenty of ideas on display at the event.  You will also have the opportunity to meet local contractors, learn about financing and permits as well as see all types of vendors.
