Heavy Rain Expected, Prompting Flood Watch

Oakland County and the rest of southeast Michigan should prepare for 2 inches of rain along with wind, snow and ice.

With heavy rain expected tonight through Wednesday, Oakland County communities are under a flood watch. And there's a bit of white stuff in the forecast, too.

The ground is already soaked from previous rains, the 2 inches or more of rain forecast for 7 p.m. today through Wednesday morning means rivers could approach flood stage with localized flooding of low lying areas and some roadways, the National Weather Service says.

That four-letter word – snow – is also being tossed into the forecast as temperatures are expected to dip from the mid-40s to the mid-20s by Thursday night. The wet and cold conditions coupled with winds gusting to 25 mph also could create icy conditions.
