In Clawson, Like County, Number of Families Decreased Slightly in Past Decade

City-specific household and family data released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau defines a home in Clawson as one that is likely owned, not rented, and lived in by a family.

Like most of Oakland County, the number of homeowners in Clawson decreased during the past 10 years, while the number of home renters increased slightly.

Across the county, the number of traditional families decreased, while the number of nonfamilies increased. (The Census Bureau defines nonfamilies as people living alone and households that don't have any members related to the householder.)

That was true in Clawson, as there was a 3.7 percent shift in families vs. nonfamilies during the past decade.
