Leon & Lulu Kicks Off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Fundraising Party

The Clawson store will host the free event Friday night.

will host its second annual from 6-9 p.m. Friday at its Clawson store.

The fundraising event “Making Memories/Saving Mammaries” will bring together Metro Detroit vendors, including Ray’s Ice Cream and Buddy’s Pizza, for a night of fun to kick off October, national Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Ten percent of Leon & Lulu store sales Friday and 100 percent of raffle, auction and T-shirt sales, as well as tips, during the party will benefit the Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Internationally known folk artist, Michigan resident and breast cancer survivor Chris Roberts-Antieau has been selected as the chair of this year’s event. Roberts-Antieau is a contributing artist to the American Craft Exposition, which exhibits artists' work to raise money for breast and ovarian cancer research. 

“Leon & Lulu is an excellent venue for a fundraiser like this because it provides a fun atmosphere for guests to come and support such a serious cause,” said Maureen O’Reilly, coordinator at Leon & Lulu.

“Making Memories/Saving Mammaries” will feature food, drinks, a raffle, a silent auction, a Lucky Duck game and TaTa-rific T-shirts. The event is free and open to all. 

“We are very excited about this year’s event and are happy to do anything we can to help find a cure for this disease, which has touched too many of our lives,” O'Reilly said.
