Nearly 400 Without Power in Clawson, Snow Expected Overnight

Heavy winds and rain have knocked down trees and power lines.

DTE Energy is reporting 399 customers in Clawson without power as of late afternoon Tuesday, including the .

is open, but only with half power, Mayor Penny Luebs said.

DTE spokesman Alejandro Bodipo-Memba said crews hope to have the power restored by Tuesday evening, however they have not determined any restoration times.

Heavy winds and rain have knocked down trees and power lines in some areas, Bodipo-Memba said. In Clawson, there is a tree down on Roth and another on Boschma, Mayor Luebs said. 

There are a total of 20,000 customers in southeast Michigan without power.

"We've had significant weather come through in the last eight hours," Bodipo-Memba said.

Bodipo-Memba said if you spot a downed power line, stay 20 feet away from it and call 1-800-477-4747.

"They should be considered live and dangerous," Bodipo-Memba.

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a winter weather advisory effective this evening through 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Rain will change to snow this evening, with 1-4 inches falling overnight, tapering off by Wenesday morning.

The Wednesday morning commute could be slippery with snow and ice covered roads. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing tonight.
