Photos: Down on Main Street Car Show in Clawson

Thousands turned out for the pre-Woodward Dream cruise car show in Clawson on Saturday despite the rain.

There were antiques, street rods, Corvettes and Camaros along Main Street in Clawson on Saturday. And the rain and cooler temperatures didn't stop the crowds from attending the annual Down on Main Street Car Show.

The event, which precedes the Woodward Dream Cruise set for for Aug. 18, attracted 8,000-10,000 people this year, organizers say.

"For the weather, it's a fabulous turnout," show coordinator Ralph Haney said. "It's a steady stream of people."

Haney said there were about 235 cars in the show, which was down from last year when there were at least 450. Haney said many car owners likely opted out of bringing their cars out in the rain.

The event is hosted by the Clawson Lions Club and United Street Machine Association. Organizers give out hundreds of trophies to the cars that win in different categories.
