Teens March Against Bullying at Clawson City Park, Release Balloons

'People need realize what is going on and why it needs to stop,' student says at Easter Seals Michigan hosted anti-bullying event Thursday.

Dozens of parents and teens from Easter Seals Michigan took a stand against bullying at in Clawson on Thursday evening.

Donning T-shirts with anti-bullying messages, the Easter Seals Parent and Teen Advisory councils marched around the wood chip trail at the park and then released dozens of multi-colored balloons to signify an end to bullying. The participants were asked to write offensive words on the balloons before releasing them.

“People need realize what is going on and why it needs to stop,” said Abby Kozak, a Teen Advisory Council member who helped organize the event. Kozak, a sophomore at Stoney Creek High School in Rochester, said she has been bullied and wants to be a voice for all victims. A few teens were able to recite speeches about their bullying experiences during the event.

The march is part of the national Million T-Shirt March, which strives to raise awareness about bullying. Students at Larson Middle School in Troy also .
