Things to Know This Holiday Weekend

Patch has a compiled a last-minute, need-to-know guide to Fourth of July events in Clawson.

Big fun is happening in Clawson this weekend as thousands join in the annual Fourth of July celebration. Here’s a last-minute guide of things to remember for the next few days.

will host a carnival this Sunday and Monday with rides, food, games and fun for all ages. The midway area will be open 3-9 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday. There is a $2 admission fee to the fair and tickets are required for rides and games. There will also be some free attractions 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday, including rock climbing.

An Arts and Crafts Fair will be held from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday at City Park. Come see what Michigan artists and others from beyond have to offer with hand-crafted items such as jewelry, garden art and furniture.

The will be offering holiday specials throughout the weekend including an Independence Breakfast Bowl, blueberry pecan pancakes, Reese Pieces pancakes, vanilla cinnamon raisin French toast, and Washington apple cinnamon French toast. The restaurant will be open Saturday-Monday from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. 

The annual , beginning at 9 a.m., will precede the Fourth of July parade and will take runners along a flat, paved course starting at the corner of 14 Mile Road and Crooks. Registration is from 7:45-8:45 a.m. Early arrival is encouraged, as 14 Mile will close around 8:30 a.m. Top finishers will receive cash prizes, with medals being awarded to the top 50 men and 50 women. Registration is $12 in advance (which includes a T-shirt) and $20 on race day.

The Fourth of July parade will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the Clawson Shopping Center at 14 Mile and Crooks and end at City Park.
