'Torrential Rainfall' Leads to Flash Flood Warning
Rain fell at a rate of 2 inches per hour starting around 5 a.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for all of Oakland County through 11 this morning.
Heavy rainfall began in the Clawson area around 5 a.m. Many residents were awoken around 5:30 a.m. when the thunder and lightning began in earnest.
"Portions of Oakland County have already received up to 3 inches of rain and an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain are possible through 8 a.m," the advisory stated. "Torrential rainfall rates up to 2 inches per hour are occurring."

If flooding occurs, the weather service advises:
- Act quickly; do not enter the water.
- Turn around and move up to higher ground to escape flood waters.
- Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising.
The rain is expected to continue intermittently through Friday morning. The forecast for Friday and Saturday predicts sun.
