Veterans Day: What's Open, Closed and Discounted?

The post office is closed, students still have school and several businesses offer deals for veterans.

On Friday we observe Veterans Day— a day dedicated to thanking the men and women who have served in the military. Congress established the national holiday on June 4, 1926. A special day like Friday means many establishments will be closed and some area restaurants are offering discounts to veterans.

  • City offices and are already closed on Friday.
  • The in Clawson will be closed.
  • Most banks will be closed to observe the holiday.
  • Clawson schools are still in session. 

Special Discounts

Here are a few restaurants and stores near Clawson that are offering specials for veterans on Friday.

Applebees (1275 W. 14 Mile Rd. in Madison Heights)— Veterans and active duty military eat free from a limited menu.

Outback Steakhouse (1515 W. 14 Mile Rd. in Madison Heights)— Veterans and active duty military get a complimentary Bloomin’ Onion and non-alcoholic beverage.

T.G.I. Friday’s (591 W. Big Beaver in Troy)— The restaurant will have a buy one, get one free special for veterans Nov. 11-14.

Hooters (2950 Rochester Rd. in Troy) All veterans and active military men eat free. There will be a special Veterans Day menu with the free entrees.

Home Depot (660 W. 12 Mile Rd. in Madison Heights)— The store will offer a 10 percent discount to veterans.

Build-a-Bear Workshop (Somerset Mall)— Members of the armed services received a 20 percent discount on any one transaction Nov. 11-15.

what day will my rubbish be, since there is a holiday, will it effect my p/u? I ask this b4 some one of my fellow 12k residents ask it, we haven't missed a holiday real or Hallmark yet, that this question has not caused a delimma. humor as seen thru these eyes. or what I see as humorous, in daily life.for free.

On this day,Veterans Day, we are commemorating the services of veterans of all wars. We remember how men and women set aside their civilian pursuits to serve their nation`s cause, defending the freedom of mankind and preserving our precious American heritage. God Bless American

well said Bryan, Memorial day is for those that served and passed, and Vet's day is for all Present and past. I hope you didn't think I slighted the day, it was the only Topic that I could use to bring up the oh by the way, it is also...................
