Viewfinder: Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss, Concert Bands Prepare to Compete

Clawson bands gear up for state competition while young readers celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday.

The and concert bands are preparing for the state concert band finals this coming weekend and next. Both bands held dry-run performances at Clawson High School Monday night and were critiqued by guest conductors who will be judging the competitive festival events.

Meanwhile, young readers were invited to a birthday celebration Wednesday evening for Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. The author would have turned 107 years-old. The kids listened to a reading of several Dr. Seuss stories by Youth Services Librarian Kristin Church.
