Weekend Planner: This Weekend, it's Santa Clawson

Old St. Nick will be around for breakfast, lunch and dinner— and the Living Nativity returns for those who would like to recreate the Christmas story.

Santa Claus is coming to town and he's doing more than just checking his list. Visit with the Big Guy at any meal, do some caroling and enjoy all the Christmas festivities around town, including traditional Living Nativity.

The holidays are in full swing, and we have it covered:

 

  • When: 11 a.m. Saturday
  • Where:
  • Cost: $5
  • Why go: Ticket price includes lunch, a visit with Santa and a small gift! There are a limited number of tickets, so it is recommended that you purchase your tickets early.
  • What else: Tickets are available at the at . Local groups will be collecting donations for Toys for Tots and the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

  • When: Check-in is at 5:30 p.m. and caroling is 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday
  • Where:
  • Cost: Free
  • Why go: Meet at City Hall at 5:30 p.m. for street assignments. Cookies and hot chocolate will conclude the evening. 
  • What else: Call 248-259-6208 or email pluebs@cityofclawson.com to sign up.

  • When: 4-8 p.m. Saturday
  • Where:
  • Cost: Adults $6, seniors $5 and children $3
  • Why go: The Clawson Lions club will hold a spaghetti dinner with Santa at Clawson City Hall. The menu will include spaghetti with meatballs, salad, rolls, dessert and a beverage. Proceeds from this event will support the Clawson Lions administrative fund.
  • What else: The Clawson Lions Club has been serving vision and hearing impaired needy individuals for 67 years.

  • When: 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday
  • Where:
  • Cost: Free
  • Why go: Live animals, Christmas music, cookies and hot chocolate make this a Clawson favorite. Costumes for shepherds, angels and wise men are available in all sizes. The whole family is welcome to come and participate or simply stop by to enjoy the experience.

  • When: 8 a.m. to noon Sunday
  • Where: Knights of Columbus Hall
  • Cost: Breakfast is $5 for adults and $4 for children and seniors.
  • Why go: Stop by for a breakfast feast of sausage, eggs, pancakes, french toast, coffee and orange juice. Pancakes will be made in the shapes of Santa Claus, Christmas trees and snowmen. Bring your own camera and take a picture of your loved ones with Santa. 
  • What else: Money collected for breakfast club events goes to many charitable organizations throughout the year, including St. Vincent dePaul, Mary's Children in Clawson, and Boy Scouts to name a few. Some of the money even goes to the National Knights of Columbus to assist with aid to earthquake victims in Haiti and Japan and other national and international needs.
