Weekend Planner: Cinema in the Street, Cheerleading Fundraiser, Outdoor Art Fair and More

Here's a roundup of weekend happenings in Clawson and surrounding areas.

1.

The cheerleading team will hold a bowling fundraiser from 7-11 p.m. Friday at Thunderbird Lanes, 400 W. Maple Rd. in Troy. Registration begins at 7 p.m., and bowling starts at 8 p.m. The price is $15 for two games, shoes, two slices of pizza and pop.

Red Oaks Waterpark, 1455 E. 13 Mile Rd. in Madison Heights, is hosting a Family Fun Fest from 6-9 p.m. Friday. In addition to everything available at the water park there will also be an inflatable obstacle course, bounce house, playground games, carnival games, puppet mobile, scavenger hunts and free frozen dessert for all attendees. The price is $5 in advance or $7 at the door.

3. Mom 2 Mom Sale

From 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, there will be a Mom 2 Mom Sale at the Hall to benefit the Save Africa Project. Items for sale will include infant through teen clothes, toys, games, books, baby gear and more for a fraction of their original cost. Admission costs $1 per person.

The annual Cinema in the Street will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday on South Main Street in Clawson. The street will be closed off at 5 p.m. The movie showing this year is Back to the Future. The event will have a 1950s theme, and there will be prizes for those who come dressed in '50s attire. The event also features games, dancing, street entertainers and more. The rain date is July 16.

The 40th annual Royal Oak Outdoor Art Fair will take place from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m-5 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Park, Woodward Avenue at West 13 Mile Road in Royal Oak. This fine art show offers attendees a chance to purchase one-of-a-kind artworks. Artists will offer a wide variety of ceramics, painting, fiber arts, photography, wood, glass, mixed media and more. Food vendors will offer tasty treats.
