Weekend Planner: Euchre Party, Daddy Daughter Dance, Blues Festival

Here's a roundup of weekend events in Clawson and surrounding areas.

It's the first weekend in February, and most of the snow from has melted. This weekend, temperatures are expected to hover in the high 30s with partly sunny skies. Our advice: Escape the winter blues and embrace the nice weather. Here are a few things going on in the area:

Euchre Party

The Clawson Athletic Booster Club will host a Euchre Tournament at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at . Partners are not required, and you must be 21 or older to play. There will be a cash bar and raffle giveaways. Tickets cost $15; to purchase them, call Lisa Sarvello at 248-821-5109. Admission includes food and prizes. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Daddy/Daughter Valentine's Day Dance

First things first, the dance is sold out. However, if you're lucky enough to have one of the 192 tickets sold, here's the scoop on the Saturday event. The first dance begins at 1 p.m. and the second at 3 p.m. at . There will be refreshments, a disc jockey, games, raffles and, of course, plenty of dancing. Wrestling Meet

Cheer for your local varsity wrestling team at its league meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at . Admission costs $5.

Ferndale Blues & Music Festival

Though it's about 8 miles (15-20 minutes) away from Clawson, the Ferndale Blues & Music Festival might be worth the trip if you're a blues fan. The festival has events and performances all weekend. Check out the at Ferndale Patch.

Royal Oak Farmers Market

If you're looking for something to do Saturday morning, the opens at 7 a.m. On Saturdays, the market features farmers and specialty food vendors. On Sundays, the market opens at 8 a.m. and features antique and collectibles vendors.
