Weekend Planner: Fall Festival, Homecoming, Books & Authors and More

A roundup of weekend events in Clawson and surrounding areas.

1. Clawson Fall Festival

The annual Fall Festival in will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. The event is free and will include hayrides, an inflatable obstacle course, a farm animal show, a bonfire and pony rides. Food from nearby restaurants also will be available. There will be a bonfire beginning at 6:15 p.m.

2. Clawson High School Homecoming

The Homecoming parade will begin at 6 p.m. Friday as students march down Phillips Avenue toward , arriving 15 minutes before the big game. The game will begin at 7 p.m., with the Trojans taking on the South Lake Cavaliers.

Students from all grades will dress up for the high school's annual homecoming dance Saturday evening. The dance will be held from 7-10 p.m. in the school's gym.

3. Books & Authors

will host a event at 11 a.m. Sunday to benefit the Detroit Free Press "Gift of Reading" program. The program provides books for thousands of Michigan children each year. An expected 50 authors will be on hand to meet their readers, find new fans and sell their books.

4. Karaoke Night

Test your singing skills Friday and Saturday nights at with some of the best karaoke in town. The fun begins at 8 p.m. and there is no cover charge.

5. Urban Harvest Night

The Royal Oak Community Farm is hosting Urban Harvest Night at the at 5 p.m. Saturday. There will be a costume parade, free games, crafts, live entertainment, delicious food, spiced cider, and more.
