Weekend Planner: Karaoke Night, Mavericks Homecoming, Beer Stroll

Get out and have some fun in Clawson and nearby areas.

1. Clawson Mavericks Homecoming

The Mavericks youth football and cheerleading organization will host its 40th Homecoming beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Clawson City Park. The flag team will kick-off, followed by freshman, JV, and varsity teams. The group will also celebrate Parent Appreciation Day. 

2. Karaoke Night

Test your singing skills Friday and Saturday nights at with some of the best karaoke in town. The fun begins at 8 p.m. and there is no cover charge.

will host a Children's Magic Class 10-11 a.m. Saturday for children ages 7-13. The class is taught by an accomplished magician. Six classes cost $100.

4. Scrapbook Evening

will host a a Scrapbook Evening from 4 p.m.-midnight on Friday. It's a chance for scrapbookers to get bargains and use the store's Cricut cartridges for free. The evening offers the fellowship of other scrappers and crafters.  Beverages and snacks are included in the $7 per person price.

If you love craft beer, you will love a stroll through downtown Royal Oak from noon-5 p.m. on Saturday. You will learn about Michigan craft beer and sample food from 17 participating restaurants. The cost is $30 in advance and $35 at the tent. Check-in tents are at 3rd and Main or 5th and Washington. Proceeds from the stroll will benefit the Friends of the Royal Oak Public Library.
