Weekend Planner: Winter Weather Brings Seasonal Activities

Check out local skating rinks, a farewell to Santa, the monthly breakfast club and more.

We've been counting down to the weekend and there's plenty of cool things to do around town. From skating at local arenas to a yummy way to spend a Sunday morning, check out these seasonal adventures you can participate in, including a chance to say farewell to Santa until next year.

And don't forget, the application deadline to enter the Miss Clawson Pageant or Jr. Miss Clawson Pageant is Friday. Turn them in at 726 Nahma Ave. to be a part of the , which takes place at 7 p.m. Feb. 25. Here's what's going on around town:

Come hit the ice from 7 to 8:50 p.m. Saturdays or from 5 to 6:50 p.m. Sundays at the . Start off the year by being active with friends and family. The cost is just $5 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger. Reservations are required to rent skates, which are $3 per pair. For more information, visit www.berkleymich.org/parks_arena.shtm.

Whether you are a novice or an expert, Friday nights are a good time to hit the ice at the local arena. A live DJ keeps skaters moving 8:15 p.m.-10:05 p.m. Fridays at . There is a $10 admission fee. Is your thank you note ready for Santa? Would you like to give him a hug before he heads back to the North Pole? Well, come help send him off from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at . Santa is stopping by to say farewell to girls and boys, and also is collecting new toys and books for needy children, so please bring something to help him refill his bag for next year. Join the 8:30 a.m. to noon Sunday for the monthly Breakfast Club gathering. Adults can get breakfast for $5, children for $3 and seniors for $4 and all proceeds go to charity.
