Where to Find a Dog Park in Oakland County

Oakland County offers several dog park options, including the nearby Red Oaks Dog Park.

Summer is almost here and it's just as important for our four-legged friends to stay active as it is for us to go out and get some exercise.

Oakland County offers several dog park options, including the nearby Red Oaks Dog Park, according to Destination Oakland.

Red Oaks, 31353 Dequindre (Madison Heights)
This 5.2-acre site accessible from Dequindre Road (around the corner from the Red Oaks Waterpark) offers up to four fenced enclosures including one for smaller dogs. The park is located at 31353 Dequindre in Madison Heights.

Orion Oaks Dog Park, 2301 W Clarkston Road (Lake Orion)

Orion Oaks offers a 24-acre fenced enclosure with small dog area, including two trails, picnic shelter, drinking water, field area, new parking lot; and access to Lake Sixteen for swimming (dogs only). Modern restrooms are available for humans.

The Orion Oaks Dog Park entrance is on Joslyn Road, between Clarkston and Scripps Roads.

Lyon Oaks, 52221 Pontiac Trail (Wixom) 
Features a 13-acre fenced enclosure with small dog area, benches, shelter and picnic tables, water fountain and field training area.

The county's dog parks offer pet waste bags, dog drinking water (at Orion Oaks only), picnic tables and benches and restroom facilities (at Orion Oaks only).

Hours of Operation

  • Lyon Oaks and Orion Oaks dog parks are open 8 a.m. until a half-hour after sunset, or as posted at gate entrance. 
  • Red Oaks Dog Park is open 8 a.m.-9 p.m., or as posted. 

Dogs Welcome at Other County Parks

Dogs also are welcome on-leash at Addison Oaks, Catalpa Oaks, Groveland Oaks, Highland Oaks, Independence Oaks, Lyon Oaks, Orion Oaks, Rose Oaks and Waterford Oaks.

Dogs visiting the Oakland County Parks are required to be on a six-foot-long leash unless inside a dog park enclosure. 

Fees

Oakland County residents can pay $30 for an annual pass to eight Oakland County's parks. Variations in fees apply for seniors, non-residents and military personnel. See the complete fee schedule here
