UPDATE: Snowfall Expected to Continue Through Friday Evening

The area could see 4-8 inches of snow by the end of the day.

8:30 a.m. Friday: Didn't get as much snow as you hoped for? It's not over yet. A winter storm warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. Friday. 

"Snow will continue to spread into the area today," the National Weather Service says. "There will be occasional breaks in the snowfall early this morning before snow once again increases in coverage by late morning."

Total snowfall accumulations are expected to range between 4-8 inches. Wind gusts of up to 35 m.p.h. are expected starting this afternoon, causing blowing and drifting snow, which poses a hazard to motorists.

Untreated roads may become hazardous today, causing a slow morning communte in many areas. Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution on the roads.

There was no need for a snow day for Clawson Schools, the district was on winter break this week.

Noon Thursday: Prepare to pull out the shovels and snowblowers, a snow storm is on the way. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch in effect Thursday evening through Friday morning.

Total snowfall accumulations could reach six inches by noon Friday, the weather service says. Snowfall could be heavy at times and sleet and rain are expected to be in the mix of precipitation.

The snow storm will likely cause hazardous driving conditions with snow and ice-covered roads on Thursday evening and Friday morning.
