Wintry Mix Arrives On Time

A wintry mix of 2 to 4 inches of snow, rain and sleet was predicted before Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The Tuesday afternoon sleet was predicted to turn to rain by evening, then to heavy snow in the night. 

Clawson Patch reader Renee McDonald commented on Facebook that it was raining on Leroy Avenue around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

"Raining lightly on School Avenue," Anna Peterson Shetler wrote at the same time.

"Coming down nicely!" added Patti Pounders around 6 p.m. She said there was about half an inch on her deck.

Mich Neerd commented around 9 p.m. after coming in from a walk that the 1 3/4 inch of snow on his steps has turned mostly to slush.  

"Lots of luck using a snow blower," he wrote, describing the wintry mix as heavy goop. "Two of my neighbors have turned theirs off and started shoveling." 

The National Weather Service said to look for moderate to heavy snow showers across southeast Michigan during the night. Visibility during the heaviest activity will decrease to less than one mile, according to the Special Weather Statement.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until noon Wednesday.
