Halloween Magic and Movie Show - Dr. Scream's Spook Show Revival!

The Wunderground Magic Shop at 16 S. Main in Clawson, MI is sponsoring the 6th annual tour of Dr. Scream's Spook Show Revival this Saturday in downtown Pontiac.

A throwback to the Halloween magic and movie shows of the 1950’s, Dr. Scream, magician and “ghost master”, will hosts a family friendly evening of magic, comedy, and AN EPIC BLACKOUT featuring “live” ghosts flying into and over the audience! After the live stage show, the audience will enjoy a classic “Casper the Friendly Ghost” cartoons, as well as the campy cult horror film "Monsters Crash the Pajama Party"!

Nearly forty years have passed since generations of Americans crammed into their local theatres late at night to experience these classic “Spook Show's” as they were known. Traveling “Ghost Masters” crisscrossed the country presenting an old-time spooky and funny evening of fun combined with a horror film. Combining macabre comedy, magic, “live” ghosts, and a good classic horror film, the Spook Show was a unique American theatrical genre nearly forgotten…Until Now…

Dr. Scream’s Spook Show Revival is an authentic re-creation of America’s original Halloween Magic Show! Part magic and illusion show, part haunted house, and part classic horror movie, there certainly is something for everyone! Magician, actor, and researcher Keith Stickley has spent the last 11 years researching and recreating the original methods, routines, and history of the Spook Show. Determined to bring the classic Spook Show experience to new generations of audiences he created Dr. Scream’s Spook Show Revival. Stickley and his company have been touring the show for 6 years now to vintage entertainment venues and performing arts centers throughout the Midwest.

“The Lafayette Grande in Pontiac is the perfect venue for Dr. Scream’s Spook Show Revival” says Stickley, the star of the show. “The Lafayette Grande was known as many different things in the past - originally the areas Masonic Temple, a court house, and a gathering and entertainment venue since it's construction in the 1920's. After a long period of abandonment, a local family in the catering business invested in and restored the historic structure, and has been hosting lavish weddings and entertainment events for the past 10 years. It’s a beautiful and even a little spooky all on its own. It’s a real thrill to be able to bring some of the past back to the Metro-Detroit area, and expose a new generation of thrill seeking audiences to this unique form of entertainment and this beautiful hidden gem of a building many don't realize is here!”.

The Wunderground Magic Shop, Metro-Detroit's premier source for professional and amateur magic tricks is proud to be a sponsor of the show. "Audiences rarely get to see big magic shows on stage like this anymore" says Paul Nielson, proprietor of the Wunderground. "It's great that we are able to support a historic, family friendly, themed show like this in the area. It's going to be a lot of fun!"

Doctor Scream and his gang of ghoulish ghosts invade the Lafayette Grande on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 8:30pm. Advance tickets are recommended, and all seats are $13 in advance or $15 the day of the show.
